Note

This is our own study analysis, not real questions and not a prediction.

Past-year papers are one of the most useful revision tools, but only if you use them well. A common mistake is to attempt them too early, before the syllabus is understood, which turns practice into guessing. Learn each chapter first, then bring in the papers to test your grasp.

Use each paper as a diagnostic. Attempt it honestly, mark it carefully against correct physics, and note precisely which topics and question types cost you marks. That list becomes your revision priority.

The technique that moves the needle is redoing questions you got wrong after revising the topic, then attempting a similar question cold to confirm the fix. Understanding a solution is not the same as being able to reproduce it.

A simple plan: alternate between topic-based practice and full papers, keep an error log across papers, and revisit it regularly so the same weaknesses do not survive to the exam.

Key tips

  • Learn a topic before attempting its past-year questions.
  • Treat each paper as a diagnostic, not a memory test.
  • Redo wrong questions after revising, then try a fresh similar one.
  • Keep one error log spanning all the papers you attempt.

In short

Past-year papers work best as a diagnostic and a technique trainer, not as material to memorise. Learn the syllabus first, then use papers to test and refine.

How to put this into practice

  • Learn a topic before attempting its past-year questions.
  • Treat each paper as a diagnostic, not a memory test.
  • Redo wrong questions after revising, then try a fresh similar one.
  • Keep one error log spanning all the papers you attempt.

A routine that works

Use each paper properly: attempt it under exam time first, then mark it against the scheme and sort your errors into missing units, wrong rearrangements and near-right definitions. Our analysis looks at topic coverage, command words and common traps, it never reproduces questions and never predicts what will appear.
