What you need to know

Refraction of Light (standard 6.1) is part of Light and Optics in Form 4. Be able to define its key terms with the correct SI units and explain the idea in one precise sentence.

Relevant formula: n = sin i / sin r, n = real depth / apparent depth, recall it from memory (no formula sheet is given) and write units on every line.

How it is examined

In Paper 1 this appears as an objective question; in Paper 2 as a define, explain, describe or calculate item. Watch the command word: "define" wants one sentence, "explain" wants the physics reason, "calculate" wants formula, substitution with units, and the answer with its unit.
