Why spacing works
Memory fades over time, quickly at first and then more slowly. Reviewing a topic just as it starts to fade strengthens it more than reviewing it while it is still fresh. Each review flattens the forgetting curve, so the same information sticks longer for less total effort. This is why several short sessions beat one long cram.
A simple schedule for physics
You do not need software to do this well:
- Review a new topic the day after you first learn it.
- Review it again three to four days later.
- Review it once more after a week or two.
- Bring it back briefly during your final revision.
Each round should be shorter than the last, because you are refreshing, not relearning.
Make each review active
Spacing works best with active recall, not rereading. In each spaced session:
- rebuild the chapter's formulas from a blank page,
- redo one calculation or experiment without looking,
- explain a concept aloud or on paper, then check it.
Rereading feels easier but retrieving is what strengthens memory.
Fit it around the whole syllabus
With 13 chapters, keep a simple tracker of when each topic is next due for review. Rotate Form 4 and Form 5 so nothing goes cold, and give harder chapters slightly more frequent reviews. A short one-to-one check-in on a spaced schedule can also help you notice which topics keep fading and need an extra pass.
